About Tranquil Minds Psychiatry

Our Philosophy

At Tranquil Minds Psychiatry, we believe that health includes a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. We strive to promote a holistic approach to health by offering services that address all aspects of wellness and collaborate with other professionals to ensure you can be the best person you are meant to be.

Our Expertise

  • Nicole is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Services.  Upon seeing and hearing about the diverse need for mental health services in the community, she founded Tranquil Minds Psychiatry in an effort to be of service to those living in rural communities with limited access to mental health care.
  • Nicole is dedicated to staying up to date with the latest research and developments in psychiatry to provide clients with the best possible solutions. One factor that really improves success is having the client be an active participant in the process.  This can be done with both in-person and online visits.  There is an expectation that the client will be actively participating.

What to Expect?

  • We start with 45-60 minute appointment where we gather a lot of information about you and your history in order to determine the severity of the issue, and to decide if and what kind of treatment would be most helpful.  Sometimes people just need to talk about their issues and other times medication management may be needed to help get you through a difficult period in life.
  • At the second meeting we will work together to develop a treatment plan and goals.  By being an active participant in your treatment, the efficacy of the treatment is more effective, and you will be successful in meeting your goals and having the life you were meant to have.
  • Nicole believes it is important to be transparent with clients and if something may cause more harm to you, she will explain what her concerns are to you, so you have the information to make an educated decision.  Not only will be be there to support you through challenging times, but she will also challenge your thinking and actions if it appears to be limiting your ability to move forward in treatment.  You will always have the right to refuse treatment if you are not comfortable with it.
  • If medications are needed, we will have more frequent in-person and/or online visits until we find a safe and effective treatment plan to manage the symptoms.  Visits will become more spread out and less frequent as you become more stable and confident in your situation. We will generally start off meeting every 1-2 weeks to properly evaluate progress toward treatment goals.  Treatment plan can always be improved upon to ensure your needs are being met. Our ultimate goal is for you to feel good and maintain the life you were meant to live.

An initial evaluation with a provider involves a medical history review, physical examination, and may include diagnostic or laboratory testing. A second appointment may be necessary to finish up the evaluation due to time constraints. I may also want to request records from previous providers or obtain consent to talk to friends or family members to further clarify information. Once the initial evaluation is complete, we will discuss the treatment plan, that we both agree with. This is often a 45 to 60-minute appointment.
